Click roofing sheets or standing seam: which to choose?
Contents6

Choose click roofing sheets if the roof has a pitch of at least 12° and slopes of no more than 6 m and you want simpler installation. Choose standing seam if you have low pitches, from 3.5°, long slopes, up to 12 m in a single panel, curved or conical shapes, or if you want the same sheet on the façade too. At a glance they look alike: straight lines and no fixing on the surface.

What do they have in common?

Both are coverings made of long panels, with straight lines and fixings that cannot be seen. Click roofing sheets, also known as snap-lock standing seam, bring the look of standing seam in a format that is simpler to install: the seams come prepared from the factory and the panels lock into one another.

When do you choose click roofing sheets?

When the roof has a simple shape, a pitch of at least 12° and slopes of up to 6 m. BELPROFILE makes them in three profiles: Flat, with a smooth surface, for areas with low wind exposure, such as urban ones; Stripes, with two longitudinal stiffeners, for moderate exposure; Waves, with micro-sinusoidal stiffening, for strong wind and large roofs. All three are also suitable for cladding.

When do you choose standing seam?

When the pitch is low, when the slope is longer than 6 m or when the roof has shapes that only a panel made to measure can follow: curved surfaces, towers, conical volumes. Standing seam is made to order, to the width and length the project requires, in steel or aluminium, and is installed up to vertical, so the same material runs from the roof onto the façade.

How is each installed?

Click panels lock into one another, on a ventilated structure similar to the one for metal roof tiles. Standing seam panels are fixed to the substrate with concealed clips and closed to one another by seaming, by machine or by hand.

The clips let the panel move along its length when the temperature changes: between winter and summer a steel panel changes its length by about 1.2 mm per metre, and an aluminium one by about 2.4 mm per metre.

In short

Simple shape and a pitch above 12°: click roofing sheets. Low pitch, long slopes, curved shapes or a façade: standing seam. For the price, ask for a quote with the dimensions of your roof.
