Metal roof tiles: for most houses
Metal roof tiles, also called tile effect roofing sheets, are sheets of galvanised and painted steel, profiled to look like a tiled roof. They weigh 4 kg/m², are installed quickly, in large sheets, on battens spaced at 350 mm, and need a pitch of at least 14°. They suit new houses and renovations, because they put little load on the roof structure.
Click roofing sheets: the look of standing seam roofing, simpler installation
Click roofing sheets, also called snap-lock standing seam, have 500 mm panels that lock into one another, with the screws concealed. They are installed from 12° and suit houses with modern lines. The Flat profile is smooth; Stripes and Waves have stiffeners, for areas with stronger wind.
Standing seam roofing: low pitches, curved shapes, façades
Standing seam roofing is made of long panels, up to 12 m, joined by a seam and fixed with concealed clips: the sheet is not drilled. It works from pitches of 3.5° up to vertical, on a façade, and can clad curved or conical shapes. It is the choice for mono-pitch roofs, buildings with distinctive architecture and commercial buildings.
Metal shingles: texture and buildings with character
Metal shingles, also called metallic slates or shingle effect roofing sheets, are small elements, laid overlapping. Rondo, with round shingles, is the roofing called fish scales. Rondo and Rombo suit towers, dormers and curved surfaces; Quadra and Quadra PLUS suit large surfaces, historic buildings and façades.
How do you choose?
- By pitch. Measure it first: it takes the roof coverings that do not fit off the list.
- By the shape of the roof. Two or four simple slopes: any of them. Dormers, many intersections, curves: standing seam roofing, click roofing sheets or shingles.
- By how you want the house to look. Traditional: metal roof tiles. Modern: click roofing sheets or standing seam roofing. With texture: shingles.
- By finish and warranty. The finish decides the colour and the years of warranty, for any type.
What do they all have in common?
All are installed as a ventilated build-up and all are closed off with accessories made for their profile: ridge, valleys, flashings, snow guards. The water is taken away by the gutters and downpipes, in the colour of the roof.
In short
Metal roof tiles for most houses, click roofing sheets for modern lines, standing seam roofing for low pitches and special shapes, shingles for texture. See all the models and colours or request a quote with the roof plan: it comes straight from the manufacturer.
